Recent reviews paint a mixed picture of the Hyatt Place Houston/Sugar Land, with some guests praising the convenient location, friendly staff, and spacious rooms. However, numerous complaints center around outdated decor, uncomfortable beds, cleanliness issues, and inconsistent service. Several reviews cite issues with staff responsiveness and a lack of attention to detail, particularly regarding maintenance and cleanliness. A recurring theme is an expectation of a Hyatt standard that is not being met.
A really bad choice. I travel frequently for work and have stayed in countless hotels over the years, so I don’t write negative reviews lightly. Unfortunately, this Hyatt Place was well below the standard I expect from the Hyatt brand. Needless to say I checked out only a few hours after I checked in as there was no way I was staying there. The property is outdated from the moment you walk in. The décor and furniture are old and worn, and there are visible cracks and signs of deferred maintenance throughout the hotel. Then there’s the bed—easily one of the most uncomfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept on. I honestly found myself wondering, “What exactly did I pay for?” A good night’s sleep is the bare minimum a hotel should provide, and this property failed to deliver. The staff were dismissive and unwilling to assist. Hyatt Place has always been a reliable choice for me, which made this stay even more disappointing. This hotel feels more like a bad motel. The rooms were old, smelly and worn out. The bathrooms were unsanitary and rusty. I hope management invests in a complete renovation because, in its current state, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. Finally, the online pictures are completely deceptive and do not paint an accurate picture of the property.
What an exceptional experience staying at this Hyatt Place! Beyond the excellent location and top-notch amenities, what truly made our stay memorable was Tori's outstanding customer service. I had accidentally booked three rooms with a configuration that was only available on different floors. Since we were traveling as a family of 12, it was important for us to have our rooms close together. Tori went above and beyond to rearrange our reservations, spending considerable time finding a solution that kept our family together without sacrificing the amenities we had originally booked. Tori's dedication, patience, and commitment to making our stay perfect were truly exceptional. She delivered customer service at its very best. Thank you, Tori—thank you, thank you, thank you! You made our family trip so much more enjoyable.
I stayed at the Hyatt Place Sugar Land for four nights during a business trip and had a very good experience overall. Check-in was smooth and professional. I had requested a quiet room in advance, and the hotel accommodated this request. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, which made for a good night’s sleep. The mattress was comfortable and not too soft, and the pillows were also very good. Some of the furniture showed minor signs of wear, but nothing was damaged. I also used the fitness center. It was fairly basic, but suitable for a short business stay. One issue occurred during my second night, when water leaked through the window area due to rain, as my room was on the top floor. After I informed reception, the hotel responded quickly, sent the facilities manager, and resolved the issue promptly. Breakfast was simple, but there was some variation from day to day. Overall, this was a very good stay. The staff were professional, helpful, and welcoming throughout my visit. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in the Sugar Land area for business.
The hotel was nice, great location, room was clean and comfortable we had a beautiful view. But was very disappointed in the breakfast this morning. The "turkey sausage" was tough and all the hot bar items were cold and there weren't very many options. I figured for what I payed for the room the breakfast would have been better. We definitely recommend the hotel, but if you are a big breakfast person I would plan to have breakfast elsewhere.
It was my first time staying here and I must say this hotel is among the very best I've stayed at. The front desk staff are very efficient and courteous. The rooms are very clean and spacious. I had a King Jr suite. I also had a room with a lake view. Sad that I couldn't take the view in during the day. The bed was so nice and comfy that I had no problem falling to sleep. I especially enjoyed the walk in shower. Check out was seamless. I would highly recommend this hotel for those looking for a nice quiet place to stay in Sugar Land.
As a member I had a great experience staying at Hyatt. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and professional. The front desk staff was welcoming, helpful, and made the process quick and easy. The room was spotless, modern, and very comfortable. The bed was extremely cozy, the bathroom was clean and well-stocked, and the overall atmosphere felt relaxing and upscale. You can tell they pay attention to detail. The amenities were also impressive whether it was the fitness center, dining options, or overall cleanliness throughout the property, everything met a high standard. The location was convenient, and the environment felt safe and well maintained. Overall, Hyatt delivers a dependable and quality stay. Perfect for business trips or a relaxing getaway. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
I stayed at this location due to the AC going out at my home. It was a nice last minute stay and at a convenient location. So about a couple weeks later I had family coming into town and I suggested this location so much that I went ahead and reserved it myself. Then I went the afternoon before to check in and to pay for the room ahead because my family was going to show up later than expected and they would have a dog.let the front desk know that my group would be needing a room key and gave them the name of the person picking it up for the room. When the morning came at 6am my family was at the hotel and the person at the desk refused to give them a key saying that it is only check out and they can not give me a key. When I showed up at the hotel to confirm and give my family my room key I tried talking to the desk and she yelled at me the same thing, that it was only check out and I could not get a key. I even asked about how would it be handled if someone forgot something in their room and needed to go back in and she said a supervisor would have to walk me to the room themselves. I felt my family was being discriminated. When I called to complain I spoke to a supervisor who said the manager is not available and to call the following. But really the same person called me a couple of days later and they basically said it must have been a misunderstanding and that the rude front desk lady is off for the week and I would have to wait to hear back from someone. My family only ended up using the room to shower and change because they felt uncomfortable due to the way they were talk to and treated. They were only in the room for two hours max! Eventually I was offered half a refund for the room. And was told that the rude front desk lady is a of a mixed race and there is no way she would discriminate. This location has everyone covering for the next person working. Basically the front desk is backed by the next person im charge and the next one above them. There is no point in putting in a complaint.
We LOVED this hotel. Every single one of the staff members are so sweet, funny and just all around great people. The rooms were very clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable. I had a rather large package sent there and they gladly held onto it while we were out all day. They have a mini Starbucks. Free breakfast and parking. They were very accommodating that's for sure. 10/10
Hi! This was our first stay and it will not be our last. From check in to check out, our stay was great! The team members were very professional, courteous, and kind. The rooms were amazingly clean, comfortable, and set up very well. I commend the cleaning crew for doing such a great job! The breakfast food options were wonderful. There was a large variety of delicious options, even for the pickiest of eaters. The location is fantastic. It is absolutely beautiful and the water bridge allows you to walk to restaurants and shopping. The lobby and other areas of the hotel were also very nice and ample parking was available. The areas are all well lit and secure. Thank you Team Hyatt Place in Sugar Land! A special shout out to Ms. Suzanne and partner for preparing the breakfast and keeping all items re-stocked.
No wow here-The place was quiet. We asked for the best room in our reservation, but got no view. The room was ok, but No hot water in sink or shower that night. ? Bed was hard and the pillows were also hard. Linens were really rough. The breakfast was better-the basics, good coffee and friendly cheerful. Ms. April was very helpful and attentive.
