Houston Marriott Sugar Land offers a stylish and convenient stay in the heart of Sugar Land Town Square. With modern accommodations, on-site dining, and easy access to shopping and entertainment, this hotel is ideal for business and leisure travelers alike.
The Houston Marriott Sugar Land receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising exceptional service and convenient location, while others report significant issues with cleanliness, outdated facilities, and inconsistent service. Recent feedback indicates a decline in overall quality and responsiveness from hotel management.
Depending on what room and floor you occupy can feel like you have booked a hotel or motel. My previous encounter was suitable for a hotel stay, quite the contrary this time around. After two nights, I welcome my own bed / home. Paper thin walls, dripping faucet in tub, low shower pressure, mediocre housekeeping and a mattress that smelled of urine is not what I’d expect from Marriott but I digress. I am in this room at 5:32 am writing this review because the noise from showers, alarms and other unidentifiable noises did what coffee could not…. keep me awake.
This is a glorified Courtyard, not the experience you are paying for or usually get at a full service Marriott. It is clean and updated but that does not make up for no bellhop, no room service, third party valet (which you almost have to use) where it bills through them and/or also the hotel. The food was that of a much lower quality hotel. I do not mind Courtyard if that is what I am paying for. $300 a night for this is absurd. This hotel used to be completely full service and felt upscale. NO LONGER!
I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. Old elevators that need an overhaul and a good touch up and horrible service. When we checked in we were told we had access to the “Marriott M lounge” due to our Platinum Elite Status. Some other hotels have really nice M lounges that need your card key to enter. This lounge is a joke and a total free for all. It was a revolving door this morning with conference attendees grabbing cups filled with snacks and multiple cans of soda. I mentioned it to hotel management via the Bonvoy app as their email suggested. No response. Tonight we came back from a day out with family and went in the lounge to grab some snack and water and walked into a totally dark lounge with five little girls under the age of 7 ALL ALONE IN THE LOUNGE with snacks strewn about the counter. Where were the parents? Where was staff? I mentioned it at the front desk- asked for the manager but he was busy so I talked to another staff member and he was totally dismissive. This hotel needs to up their game..
Marriott’s valet service is truly top-tier, and George Smith is the reason I look forward to arriving every time I stay. From the moment I pull up, his warm personality, professionalism, and attention to detail make the experience seamless and welcoming. George consistently goes above and beyond; not just doing his job well, but making you feel genuinely valued as a guest. That kind of service is rare, and it sets the tone for an exceptional stay. If you’re staying here, know you’re in great hands the moment George greets you. Exceptional service, every single time.
The common areas of the hotel are a little dated but the rooms are updated and very nice. The mattress was a little lopsided but despite that it was still comfortable. We had a room located across from the town square. There was an event that evening and even though you could hear the loudspeakers it was not annoying. All the square activities ended by 9 or 10pm. I liked that they had valet parking or self parking at the free city parking garage. It was located about a half block from the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel and it has a Starbucks attached to the building. The access to highway 59 is quick and easy. Lots of shopping nearby as well. Probably the biggest disappointment for me was that almost none of the ice machines were in working order. Bad reflection on the hotels ownership that they refuse to fix them.
Stayed here for the first time due to a conference and loved everything about it. The staff, room, bed, food, and attached Starbucks were all top notch. As if that all that wasn’t enough, the location is perfect with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
I would definitely come back here again! I booked our 10th year anniversary here at Marriott sugarland town center. **Ms.Nicole who works at front desk helped me book an extra night for the weekend. She is kind and helpful. Who also gave us a complimentary breakfast. **We had an amazing view! **Rooms were clean! **Free parking garage w/elevators (they also have valet) **Restaurants nearby just a walk away. Such a great stroll out of the hotel. **They have a bar area in the hotel. **They also have a smart tv(w/netflix for your own login), mini fridge, many ballrooms, a garden area, swimming pool.
I am extremely disappointed with this hotel’s handling of a simple billing issue. My son was charged for breakfast that was supposed to be complimentary. Despite contacting multiple Customer Service representatives and even speaking with managers, we were repeatedly assured that a refund would be processed. It has now been over a month since our stay, and we have received nothing—no refund, no updates, and no support. The lack of accountability and follow-through is unacceptable, and I would caution anyone considering this hotel to be aware of their poor customer service.
I like to start with the positive. The employees at this hotel were exceptional! Tyana at the front desk was a breath of sunshine as she worked to get us a comfortable room. Maria the cleaning lady was wonderful. She was an older woman who took pride in her work. Derek at the front desk was also very attentive to our needs. The hotel itself is in need of some serious renovations. When entering the hotel I was immediately surprised to see dated furniture with stains and thread unraveling beneath the benches it was an eyesore. The tile was dusty and it overall needed to be swept and cleaned. As we finished checking in we went to grab some carts to carry our luggage up. The carpet on the carts was so stained and nasty looking, that I wished I had the energy to carry our bags up myself. The elevators as well as the pool area and gym are in desperate need of updating and cleaning. The gym smelled like rubber tires and the dirt around the edge of the pool and jacuzzi were all I needed to make the decision that we would not indulge. The rooms were nice overall with the exception of the bathroom which we requested someone to come up and reclean what looked like mildew and dirty grout. The tile was also cracked. They did however send up a nice man Mr. Rico who was very kind and worked hard to remove some of the dirty grout and mold. And because I watched him scrub the tile and grout with his brush and bleach cleaner, We decided to stay in this room because atleast we saw some improvement with his hard work as he aimed to please. The entire staff at this hotel were A+. So for this reason our stay was good. With some updating and more maintenance crew. This hotel could be 5 stars no doubt. The location is outstanding! Everybody from the entire front desk crew to the bartender who was nice enough to give us ice because the machine on our floor did not work to the gentleman who greeted us at the front door were all exceptional and for this reason our stay was pleasurable. Would I stay here again? That I'm not sure of. For the cost per night I just feel like Mariott should do much better. There used to be high standard for Mariott so I am beginning to wonder if this is a common thing. We had issues with mold on one of our last stays at the Mariott in Cancun so I pray that this is not becoming the standard of the Mariott hotels moving forward.
This was the host hotel for the NMA conference. Great hotel and location. The staff took very good care of us especially Derek and Tyana. Also the breakfast was great especially the omletes. I would say that the internet could have been better and the hotel was really cold in the conference rooms and lobby.
